HI!

We are Selene and Jonathan

Our Story

I promise I will be brief, Everything started when Selene was 5 years old…haha just kidding!

We are both Italians, Selene was born and raised in Padua (north of Italy) but she always spent her summers in Sardinia as her mum was born there. Jonathan was born and raised in Olbia when his mum moved to the island from Dominican Republic before he was born.

Our love story was filled with missed opportunities and the typical ” It wasn’t the right time” kind of moments. We met in Padova when Jonathan came to visit some friends from Sardinia, we apparently had the same friends for more than 5 years, yet we never found ourselves in the same room before his trip to Padova, and we didn’t meet then neither, he came back a few months after to meet a girl he met in the city (I know, eyes rolling) but he actually met Selene.

That will be the perfect love story but life is not really a movie isn’t it? We only started seriously dating 3 years after we met, after we both moved to London and spent one year doing our own thing in the city.

Fun Fact

Selene’s aunt is a clairvoyant and she read Selene’s cards when she found out we weren’t together anymore (this is we were told years later from Selene’s mum). She foresaw that we will be together again (which we did) and that it will be forever.

Let’s hope she’s right!

• Our Full Time Travel Journey

Would you believe it if we told you that before leaving London and quitting our jobs we were actually about to ask our bank a loan to buy a house in Central London?

Then Corona happened , and turned everything upside down, gave us time to think about what we really want from this life and allowed us to find out if we were truly happy with our current situation in the city.

And we weren’t!!

We started talking about travelling around the world for 6 months, 6 months quickly became 1 year till it became “as far as our savings will carry us”.

We had a pretty leaner life in London for over 7 years, were work became our life and the plan that creeped into our minds was “Let’s work and save as much as we can so once we are finally in pension we can go and travel the world”

Wait What?

When we finally had time to think and clear out the fog that surrounded our brains we said NO. NO to that plan and that sort of life, no to waiting an entire life time before actually living it the way we want to.

And once we had that realisation everything became pretty clear for us, it’s like we finally heard that voice inside us that had been screaming in our brains for so long.

And so we quit, with a smile on our faces and a light heart, we sold everything we owned and bought a one way ticket.

The world is waiting for you to explore it!

  • Wondering what a trip to Egypt will look like?

Friendly people, crazy beautiful temples, dreamy Nile views, busy roads, total madness, lots of hustling, even more bread and an overall vibe that will make you feel you stepped in a different time!

Did we convince you to visit it?

Egypt 📍

  • Can you believe that we reached this desert with a 20 min bicycle ride?

You have a good choice of places to where to enjoy the sunset in Siwa, but only a few can compare to the desert dunes.

Here’s the coordinates
(29.1723138, 25.5264330)

  • Despite being in Egypt in off season most of the attractions are still quite busy, and the Abu Simbel temple is no exception!

We couldn’t believe the videos some friends of our sent us showing us the massive crowds flooding the place only 30 min after opening time, so we started thinking…

Being a temple partly dedicated to the sun god Ra, everyone and especially the tours come here at sunrise. So for once we visited a popular sight at sunset!

A side from a small group of like 5 people we were completely alone and had the chance to stay 90 min extra after closing time. There is a light show a few hours after the temple’s closing, we just casually mentioned that we were staying for the show and were able to wonder freely around.

The inside of the temple does close at the appointed time, so you can visit that first, and then enjoy the outside without any time pressure!

It was so special and we loved the sunset atmosphere!

  • Sailing through the Nile ✨

The river, often called the lifeblood of Egypt it’s a beautiful sight especially at sunset! Sailing through on board of the typical boats called feluccas was one of our favourite experiences in Egypt.

Calm and peaceful, in a day with no wind we could enjoy the life on the river for twice the bargained time. Some might feel board, but we love the water and seeing a different prospective of the town was truly perfect!

While everyone might tell you to go on a ride in Luxor we can actually confirm that Aswan was the most perfect spot for this experience. Much more of a diverse landscape filled with nature compared to Luxor which is quite flat.

Price for 2 hours • 5€

Could this have climbed all the other ones before and became our favourite one?

It was truly the experience to walk among a forest of 134 columns 20 meters high, it’s already stunning now I cannot believe how epic it would have looked back then!

It’s a popular sight so not even being here at sunrise might save you from the crowds, we had about 30 min of quiet before massive tours started flooding the place 😅

  • Have you head of Abu Simbel?

Is definitely a journey to come at the southern edge with Egypt, right at the border with Sudan! The hot hours in a tight minivan were rewarded with peaceful lake views, small town vibes and one of the coolest temples we have ever seen! Thank you Ramses II for the masterpiece you left us with the famous Abu Simbel Temple🥂

#abusimbel #abusimbeltemple #abusimbelegypt #egypt #visitegypt #visitegypt🇪🇬 #exploreegypt
  • Our first temple 🇪🇬

Philae Temple, Aswan 📍

Philae Temple was once the sacred home of the goddess Isis, when the Aswan High Dam was built in the 20th century, rising waters threatened to submerge it. The entire temple was dismantled and moved stone by stone to the nearby Agilkia Island.

So glad this didn’t end up swallowed by water!
